Apprenticeships are open to all ages. Historically apprenticeships were for 16-24yr olds however now there is an option to do an adult apprenticeship.
You can do an apprenticeship in many subjects from Adminstration to Information Technology. The options for apprenticeships have increased over recent years moving away from historical apprenticeships that were only available in the trades industry.
Yes. It is a legal requirement for an employer to pay you during your apprenticeship. You should not be offered or start an apprenticeship if there is no contract and agreed salary or hourly pay. The national minimu wage for apprentices is £4.15 per hour.
Unfortunately not, employers are not required to offer you a permanent job after your apprenticeship training. However you will be in a great position to succesfully secure a permanent job having acquired the relevant qualifications after your apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship take a minimum of 12 months, at intermediate level, all the way up to 5 years studying for a Degree Apprenticeship.
